PLEASE NOTE:

This is a draft, a work in process. Probably many more drafts will need to happen before it can come close to what ACT has meant for us.... (Vijay and Anne)

Basic Premise

The premise of ACT is that language gives us the capacity to bring our pasts and projected futures into the present. When that happens then this moment can be transformed experientially to some equivalent of that past and/or projected future actually happening in this moment. This moment is thus held hostage to the past and the future.

The promise of ACT is that if we can become aware that that is just a capacity we have and can mindully bring ourselves to what is really happening in this present moment then energies can be released to connect flexibly and effortlessly with long term core values. We can then be open in this moment to behaviours that bring vitality, meaning and purpose to our lives.
